OPEN COURSEWARE CONSORTIUM

The Open CourseWare Consortium is a worldwide community of hundreds of higher education institutions and associated organizations committed to advancing OpenCourseWare and its impact on global education. An OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a free and open digital publication of high quality college and university-level educational materials.  These materials are organized as courses, and often include course planning materials and evaluation tools as well as thematic content. OpenCourseWare are free and openly licensed, accessible to anyone, anytime via the internet. The search index currently contains 5,910 courses from 62 sources and 25 languages, and growing!

ELDIS

"ELDIS is a gateway to information on development issues, providing free and easy access to wide range of high quality online resources." Concentrates on providing links to full text freely downloadable documents, with thorough abstracts created by Eldis. Also includes:

•    Subject Resources Guide
•    Regional & Country Profiles

ilissAfrica (Internet library sub-Saharan Africa)
A portal that offers an integrated access to relevant scientific conventional and digital information resources on the sub-Saharan Africa region. Information scattered on private or institutional websites, databases or library catalogues are brought together in order to facilitate research.

Intute

A gateway to Internet resources useful for HE teaching and research work, "created by a network of UK universities and partners". Not maintained since July 2011, but will be available for three years. Several sections are relevant to development studies, including:

•    Development Economics (includes Poverty and inequality, Trade and Trade Policy)
•    Development Studies
•    Economic Development
•    Economic Performance and Development (includes Globalization, Migration)
•    Environment and Sustainability


World Bank

Details of World Bank activities, including:

•    Publications. Access to the Online bookstore and to full text of Documents and reports (this is very useful for tracking down Research papers, etc).
•    Data and Research. Statistics and other pieces of World Bank research can be searched and or browsed by Date or Topic or Region/Country or Type/Series.
